About Me My name is Lorie Hill and I have been scrapbooking since 1998, and teaching since 1999. When I am teaching, people often ask how I got into scrapbooking. Basically, this is one craft that I NEVER thought I would be involved in, because my family are "not picture takers". When my father retired from 45 years of service in the US Air Force as both active duty enlisted and officer and as civilian. Because of the number of years he had been involved in the service (mostly in the intelligence community), and the position he held at the time of his retirement, the ceremony was two days long, and involved over 1500 people (guests and speakers). The Air Force staff photographers took 10 36-exposure rolls of film during the 2-day event, and showed up at our door a few weeks after with 360 pictures. That was in May of 1996 and in September of 1998 they were still sitting in the drawer they had been placed in when they were delivered. In September of 1998, I was invited to my first scrapbooking event and was shocked at what you could do with the magic of CROPPING. I discovered that all of the candid shots of groups of people at the retirement that only had 1 or 2 identifiable faces could be cropped to fit anywhere from 6 to 8 photos on a page. Suddenly, the pile of 360 pictures that "no one" would look through became a nice 15-page album that people were interested in looking at because of the journaling and the presentation. I WAS HOOKED! Since that time, I have enjoyed learning, practicing and teaching scrapbooking tips, tricks and techniques. I have designed, written and taught over 20 different classes and have greatly enjoyed every event in which I have been involved. I designed this web site to offer a place to show off some of my favorite links, tip, paper piecing patterns, and to have a place to showcase the schedule of classes I teach in the Washington, DC area. Please let me know if there is anything you like :) or don't like :( about the site. If there is anything you would like to see added, please let me know that also. I look forward to hearing from you. Email Me at Lorie@TotalScrpper.com |
