FONT HELP

Installing fonts in Windows 95 and later

Each Windows font will come in a ZIP file, which can only be opened using a zip utility. I recommend Power Archiver, which can be downloaded for FREE from www.powerarchiver.com. Once that is installed, just right click on a ZIP file and select Extract Here (this will extract the font files out of the zip file and place them in the same folder with the zip), and then continue on with the following steps to install your fonts!

1. Click on Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.
2. Double click the Fonts icon to open the Fonts Control Panel.
3. On the File menu, click Install New Font...
4. Click the drive and folder that contain the fonts you want to add.
5. Click the font you want to add - To select more than one font, press and hold down the CTRL key while you click each font - then click on OK.
* To select a range of fonts in the list, press and hold down the SHIFT key while dragging the cursor over the fonts.
* To add fonts from a network drive without using disk space on your computer, make sure Copy fonts to Fonts folder is not checked.

I use a font management tool to organize and print samples of my fonts. The manager I use is Typograf and a shareware version can be downloaded for free from www.neuber.com. and for a reasonable fee the downloaded copy can be registered.

Installing fonts in Mac System 7.0 and later

Each font will come in either a HQX or SIT file, which can be opened using a program such as Aladdin Expander. More Mac font utilities can be found at Pure Mac.

1. Close all applications and drag the fonts on top of the System file located in the System Folder.
2. The system automatically installs them in a folder named Fonts.
* You can install fonts at any time without restarting your computer but you'll have to restart any open applications before you can actually use the fonts.

Converting IBM fonts for use on MAC

IBM fonts are in True Type format. If you would like to use them on a Mac computer, and don't see a Mac version available, you can convert them with TTConverter. Instructions are included in the file.
